Description

2nd EU-US workshop on SG assessment methodologies, Washington DC, 7-11-2011

Both the European Union and the United States have recently made significant investments in smart grid development, demonstration, and deployment. There is a mutual interest in sharing lessons learned and best practices on Smart Grids. Presently, both in Europe and in the US the focus is on demonstration projects to collect sufficient real-world field data to verify the costs, performance and benefits of smart grid technologies.

The 2nd EU-US workshop on Smart Grid Assessment Methodologies was jointly organized by the Joint Research Centre and the Department of Energy, under the auspices of the US-EU Energy Council - Technology Working Group. A first meeting was held on the 6th of December 2010 in Albuquerque.

The goal of this second meeting was to concretely discuss current initiatives on Smart Grid assessment methodologies in the EU and in the US, with a restricted number of experts from the EU and US.
