Technical committeeTypeAcronymIEC TR 62059-21:2002CommitteePublished year2002Description
Describes methods for the collection and analysis of field failure data of static electricity metering equipment using field failure reports and sampling plans. To make results comparable, definitions of equipment complexity and classification of failures are given. A failure reporting form is provided in annex A. This publication is of high relevance for Smart Grid.

Technical committeeTypeAcronymIEC SRD 62913-2-2:2019CommitteePublished year2019KeywordsDescription
IEC SRD 62913-2-2:2019(E) initiates and illustrates the IEC’s systems approach based on Use Cases and involving the identification of generic smart grid requirements for further standardization work for market related domains, based on the methods and tools developed in IEC SRD 62913-1.
It captures possible “common and repeated usage” of a smart grid system, under the format of “Use Cases” with a view to feeding further standardization activities. Use Cases can be described in different ways and can represent competing alternatives. From there, this document derives the common requirements to be considered by these further standardization activities in terms of interfaces between actors interacting with the given system.
To this end, Use Case implementations are given for information purposes only. The interface requirements to be considered for later standardization activities are summarized (typically information pieces, communication services and specific non-functional requirements: performance level, security specification, etc.). -

IEC TR 62357-1:2016(E) provides a clear and comprehensive map of all standards which are contributing to support interactions, in an open and interoperable way, between actors, components and systems in the field of electricity grids from generation to consumers, including transmission and distribution. The document also brings the vision of the path which will be followed by the concerned IEC technical committees and working groups in the coming years, to improve the global efficiency, market relevancy and coverage of this series of standards. This second edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- it provides updates and defines layered Reference Architecture to help direct longer term goals and activities, specifically to ensure compatibility of all new standards developed in the IEC by benefitting from lessons learned during development of the current standards and their application to actual utility projects as well as through application of other internationally recognized architecture standards.
- It reflects the most recent editions of the IEC standards relating to power systems management and associated information exchange, including the IEC 61850 series and the IEC 61968, IEC 61970 and IEC 62325 Common Information Model (CIM) standards. -
Technical committeeTypeAcronymIEC 62059-31-1:2008CommitteePublished year2008Description
IEC 62059-31-1:2008 provides one of several possible methods for estimating product life characteristics by accelerated reliability testing. In this standard, elevated, constant temperature and humidity is applied to achieve acceleration. The method takes into account the effect of voltage and current variation. It is applicable to all types of metering equipment for energy measurement, tariff and load control in the scope of IEC TC 13. The method given in this standard may be used for estimating (with given confidence limits) product life characteristics of such equipment prior to and during serial production. This method may also be used to compare different designs. The contents of the corrigendum of December 2008 have been included in this copy. This publication is of high relevance for Smart Grid.

IEC 62058-31:2008 specifies particular requirements for acceptance inspection of newly manufactured direct connected or transformer operated static meters for active energy (classes 0,2 S, 0,5 S, 1 and 2) delivered in lots in quantities above 50. The method of acceptance of smaller lots should be agreed upon by the manufacturer and the customer. This publication is of high relevance for Smart Grid.

Technical committeeTypeAcronymIEC 62056-5-3:2017CommitteePublished year2017Description
IEC 62056-5-3:2017 specifies the DLMS/COSEM application layer in terms of structure, services and protocols for DLMS/COSEM clients and servers, and defines rules to specify the DLMS/COSEM communication profiles. It defines services for establishing and releasing application associations, and data communication services for accessing the methods and attributes of COSEM interface objects, defined in IEC 62056-6-2 using either logical name (LN) or short name (SN) referencing. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition of IEC 62056-5-3, published in 2016. It constitutes a technical revision. The significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition are listed in Annex K (Informative).
