IEC 63056:2020 specifies requirements and tests for the product safety of secondary lithium cells and batteries used in electrical energy storage systems (Figure 2) with a maximum DC voltage of 1 500 V (nominal). Basic safety requirements for the secondary lithium cells and batteries used in industrial applications are included in IEC 62619. This document provides additional or specific requirements for electrical energy storage systems. Since this document covers batteries for various electrical energy storage systems, it includes those requirements which are common and minimum to the electrical energy storage systems. Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this document are: • telecommunications, • central emergency lighting and alarm systems, • stationary engine starting, • photovoltaic systems, • home (residential) energy storage systems (HESS), and • large energy storage: on-grid/off-grid. This document applies to cells and batteries for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). This document does not apply to portable systems 500 Wh or below, which are covered by IEC 61960-3.

Technical committeeTypeAcronymIEC 63046CommitteePublished year2020Description
IEC 63046:2020 provides requirements and recommendations for the overall Electrical Power System. In particular, it covers interruptible and uninterruptible Electrical Power Systems including the systems supplying the I&C systems; This document is consistent and coherent with IEC 61513. Like IEC 61513, this document also highlights the need for complete and precise requirements, derived from the plant safety goals. Those requirements are prerequisites for generating the comprehensive requirements for the overall Electrical Power System architecture, and for the electrical power supply sub-systems. This document establishes the high level specification and requirement to implement a suitable Electrical Power System in a NPP that supports reactor systems important to safety. It also enables electrical energy production providing the transmission grid with active and reactive power and electro-mechanical inertia.

IEC 63044-6:2021 specifies the requirements for planning and installation of HBES/BACS and the supporting infrastructure. Radio frequency (RF) HBES/BACS are also considered. Safety requirements are covered by IEC 60364 (all parts) Information and communication technology (ICT) and broadcasting and communication technology (BCT) network installations are typically interfaced with HBES/BACS. The requirements for ICT and BCT network installations are covered by ISO/IEC 14763-2. This document does not cover HBES/BACS implementation with: optical fibre, power lines, power over Ethernet (PoE).

IEC 63044-5-3:2017 is a product family standard that sets the minimum level of EMC performance for the HBES/BACS network in addition to the product EMC standards for HBES/BACS devices. It also applies to devices used within an HBES/BACS network for which no specific HBES/BACS product EMC standard exists. In addition, it defines EMC requirements for the interface of equipment intended to be connected to an HBES/BACS network. It does not apply to interfaces to other networks.

Technical committeeTypeAcronymIEC 63013CommitteePublished year2017Description
IEC 63013:2017 is applicable to LED packages for general lighting services.
It specifies procedures and conditions for measuring the luminous flux maintenance of LED packages. It also provides the procedures and conditions (criteria) of projecting the long-term luminous flux maintenance based on limited luminous flux maintenance test data collected. Within the context of this document, wherever luminous flux measurement data is specified, radiant flux measurement data can also be used.Technology
