Auxiliaries for Lamps

IEC 61347-2-11:2001+A1:2017, published in conjunction with IEC 61347-1, represents an editorial review of IEC 60920. The formatting into separately published parts provides for ease of future amendments and revisions. Additional requirements will be added as and when a need for them is recognized. This part of IEC 61347 specifies general and safety requirements for miscellaneous electronic circuits used with luminaires for use on a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz and/or d.c. supplies up to 250 V. This part does not apply to circuits or devices for which specific IEC standards are published. This first edition of IEC 61347-2-11, together with IEC 61347-1, cancels and replaces the first edition of IEC 60920, published in 1990, and constitutes a minor revision. This standard shall be used in conjunction with IEC 61347-1. The contents of the corrigendum of December 2001 have been included in this copy. This consolidated version consists of the first edition (2001) and its amendment 1 (2017). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.

IEC 61347-2-10: 2009 specifies particular requirements for electronic invertors and convertors for high-frequency operation of tubular cold-cathode discharge lamps used in signs and luminous discharge tube installations and operating with an output voltage exceeding 1 000 V but not exceeding 10 000 V for direct connection to supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz or 1 000 V d.c. This consolidated version consists of the first edition (2000) and its amendment 1 (2008). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.

IEC 61347-2-1:2000+A1:2005+A2:2013 specifies particular safety requirements for starting devices (starters other than glow starters and ignitors) for fluorescent and other discharge lamps for use on a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz which produce starting pulses not greater than 100 kV and which are used in combination with lamps and ballasts covered in IEC 60081, IEC 60188, IEC 60192, IEC 60662, IEC 60901, IEC 61167, IEC 61195, IEC 61199, IEC 61347-2-8 and IEC 61347-2-9. This consolidated version consists of the first edition (2000), its amendment 1 (2005) and its amendment 2 (2013). Therefore, no need to order amendments in addition to this publication.

This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 61347-1:2007

IEC 61347-1:2015+A1:2017 specifies general and safety requirements for lamp controlgear for use on d.c. supplies up to 250 V and/or a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2007, Amendment 1:2010 and Amendment 2:2012. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) additional marking requirements;
b) additional requirements for creepage distances and clearances:
- for working voltages with operating frequencies up to 30 kHz;
- for working voltages with higher operating frequencies than 30 kHz;
- for impulse and resonance voltages ignition;
- for basic, supplementary and reinforced insulation;
- for insulation between circuits;
- for coated or potted controlgear;
c) modification of definition of ELV and FELV;
d) modification of schematic drawing, showing the different controlgear classification and insulation requirements;
e) scope extension;
f) new Annex A: test to establish whether a conductive part is a live part which may cause an electric shock;
g) new Annex M: creepage distances and clearances for controlgear where a higher degree of availability (impulse withstand category III) may be requested;
h) new Annex Q: example for Up calculation;
i) new Annex P: creepage distances and clearances and distance through isolation (DTI) for lamp controlgear which are protected against pollution by the use of coating or potting;
j) new Annex R: concept of creepage distances and clearances.

Applicable to independent and built-in single-phase transformers with separate input and output windings, for use on a.c. supply up to 1000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, to supply and stabilize cold cathode tubular lamps (or assemblies of such lamps) having a no-load rated output voltage exceeding 1000 V but not exceeding 10 000 V and intended for lighting and for electric advertising signs, light signals and similar purposes. The contents of the corrigendum of March 1992 have been included in this copy.

This International Standard specifies performance requirements for electronic step-down convertors for use on d.c. supplies up to 250 V and a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz with operating frequencies deviating from the supply frequency, associated with tungsten halogen lamps as specified in IEC 60357 and other filament lamps.

IEC 60968:2015 specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements, together with the test methods and conditions required to show compliance of tubular fluorescent lamps with integrated means for controlling starting and stable operation (self-ballasted fluorescent lamps). This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2012. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition, where additions have been made to the following:
a) caps and prevention of cap misuse;
b) interchangeability;
c) mechanical and electrical strength;
d) creepage distances and clearances;
e) end of lamp life precaution;
f) abnormal operation;
g) test conditions for dimmable and three-way lamps;
h) water contact related marking;
i) verification, and assessment;
j) information for luminaire design in the form of annexes.
The contents of the corrigendum of March 2015 have been included in this copy.

IEC 60929:2011+A1:2015 specifies performance requirements for electronic control gear for use on a.c. at 50 Hz or 60 Hz and/or d.c. supplies, both up to 1 000 V, with operating frequencies deviating from the supply frequency, associated with fluorescent lamps as specified in IEC 60081 and IEC 60901, and other fluorescent lamps for high-frequency operation. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2006, IEC 60925 published in 1989, its Amendment 1 (1996) and its Amendment 2 (2001). This fourth edition constitutes a technical revision. The essential change with respect to the third edition is the extension to DC supplied control gear and the deletion of the requirements for digital signal control of electronic control gear. The contents of the corrigendum of September 2011 have been included in this copy. This consolidated version consists of the fourth edition (2011) and its amendment 1 (2015). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.

This standard specifies performance requirements for ballasts, excluding resistance types, for use on a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, associated with tubular fluorescent lamps with pre-heated cathodes operated with or without a starter or starting device and having rated wattages, dimensions and characteristics as specified in IEC 60081 and 60901. It applies to complete ballasts and their component parts such as resistors, transformers and capacitors. This consolidated version consists of the second edition (2004) and its amendment 1 (2006). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.
