    Description

    IEC TR 62757:2015(E), which is a technical report, deals with fire prevention measures on converters and their valve halls for high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, static VAR compensators (SVC) and flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS). It is intended to be primarily for the use of the utilities and consultants who are responsible for issuing technical specifications for new converter valves and valve halls. It concerns fire incidents in HVDC projects using line commutated converters (LCC) or voltage sourced converter (VSC) technology and it is from these projects that most examples of fires and fire incidents are taken. This technical report also addresses converter valves and valve halls for SVC and FACTS. This technical report provides general recommendations to be considered while preparing specifications for these systems. Specific requirements for a particular project need to be clearly specified and mutually agreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser.

    Description

    IEC TR 62544:2011+A1:2016+A2:2020 gives general guidance on the subject of active filters for use in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power transmission. It describes systems where active devices are used primarily to achieve a reduction in harmonics in the d.c. or a.c. systems. This excludes the use of automatically retuned components. The various types of circuit that can be used for active filters are described in the report, along with their principal operational characteristics and typical applications. The overall aim is to provide guidance for purchasers to assist with the task of specifying active filters as part of HVDC converters. Passive filters are specifically excluded from this report. This consolidated version consists of the first edition (2011), its amendment 1 (2016) and its amendment 2 (2020) . Therefore, no need to order amendments in addition to this publication.

    Description

    IEC/TR 62543:2011+A1:2013+A2:2017 gives general guidance on the subject of voltage-sourced converters used for transmission of power by high voltage direct current (HVDC). It describes converters that are not only voltage-sourced (containing a capacitive energy storage medium and where the polarity of d.c. voltage remains fixed) but also self-commutated, using semiconductor devices which can both be turned on and turned off by control action. The scope includes 2-level and 3-level converters with pulse-width modulation (PWM), along with multi-level converters, but excludes 2-level and 3-level converters operated without PWM, in square-wave output mode. HVDC power transmission using voltage sourced converters is known as "VSC transmission". The various types of circuit that can be used for VSC transmission are described in the report, along with their principal operational characteristics and typical applications. The overall aim is to provide a guide for purchasers to assist with the task of specifying a VSC transmission scheme. Line-commutated and current-sourced converters are specifically excluded from this report. This technical report cancels and replaces IEC/PAS 62543:2008 (Ed.1) which was published by IEC and CIGRÉ jointly, and combined with engineering experience.
    This consolidated version consists of the first edition (2011), its amendment 1 (2013) and its amendment 2 (2017). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.

    Description

    IEC TR 60919-3:2009+A1:2016 provides general guidance on the dynamic performance of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems. Dynamic performance is meant to include those events and phenomena whose characteristic frequencies or time domain cover the range between transient conditions and steady state. Diode valves are not considered in this specification. This report (IEC 60919-3) which covers dynamic performance, is accompanied by publications for steady-state (IEC 60919-1) and transient (IEC 60919-2) performance. All three aspects should be considered when preparing two-terminal HVDC system specifications. This report should not be used directly as a specification for a specific project, but rather to provide the basis for an appropriate specification tailored to fit actual system requirements for a particular electric power transmission scheme. This report does not intend to discriminate between the responsibility of users and manufacturers for the work specified. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition, which was issued as a technical specification in 1999. It constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
    a) this report concerns only line-commutated converters;
    b) significant changes have been made to the control system technology;
    c) some environmental constraints, for example audible noise limits, have been added;
    d) the capacitor coupled converters (CCC) and controlled series capacitor converters (CSCC) have been included. This consolidated version consists of the second edition (2009) and its amendment 1 (2016). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.

    Description

    IEC TR 60919-2:2008+A1:2015+A2:2020 provides guidance on the transient performance and fault protection requirements of high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems. It concerns the transient performance related to faults and switching for two-terminal HVDC systems utilizing 12-pulse converter units comprised of three-phase bridge (double way) connections but it does not cover multi-terminal HVDC transmission systems. However, certain aspects of parallel converters and parallel lines, if part of a two-terminal system, are discussed. The converters are assumed to use thyristor valves as the bridge arms, with gapless metal oxide arresters for insulation co-ordination and to have power flow capability in both directions. Diode valves are not considered in this report. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition, published in 1991, and constitutes a technical revision. It includes the following main changes with respect to the previous edition:
    - it concerns only line-commutated converters;
    - isignificant changes have been made to the control system technology;
    - some environmental constraints, for example audible noise limits, have been added;
    - the capacitor coupled converters (CCC) and controlled series capacitor converters (CSCC) have been included. This consolidated version consists of the second edition (2008), its amendment 1 (2015) and its amendment 2 (2020). Therefore, no need to order amendment in addition to this publication.
