For his outstanding work on the modelling of emissions for transport and in particular on an integrated approach to modelling CO2 emissions of road transport; for high quality research, competence building and scientific publications.
Best Peer-reviewed Scientific Paper: Güzay Paşaoğlu, Michel Honselaar, Christian Thiel
For their paper in the field of e-mobility and more specifically for their analysis of CO2 reductions and cost implications for vehicle technology deployment scenarios, for the uniqueness of their integral assessment on long term evolution (up to 2050) of the road transportation sector in the whole EU, for the relevant indications to the European policy makers, and for the positive review in Nature Climate Change.
Technical Support: Frederik Harskamp, Christian Bonato
For their outstanding technical support in the development of the reference lab for high pressure gas safety assessment (GasTeF), in particular the design, manufacturing and assembly of a system to cool down compressed hydrogen prior to its introduction in the gas tank.
POLICY SUPPORT I: Vincenzo Giordano
For his contribution to establish the JRC now been recognized as a reference centre for Smart Grids. He has repeatedly represented the JRC in high-level meetings and conferences, set-up cooperations with institutional and industrial stakeholders, and established strong links with customer DGs.
POLICY SUPPORT II: Fabio Monforti-Ferrario, Katalin Bodis, Jean-Francois Dallemand, Thomas Huld, Magda Moner-Girona, Heinz Ossenbrink, Irene Pinedo, Sandor Szabo, Umberto Tromboni

Open Category: Heinz Wilkening
For the creation, administration, maintenance and support of the high performance computer cluster that allow four actions from three units to facilitate and support modelling needs (fluid dynamic, neutron physics, electric grid simulation, etc.).
Open Category: Matthias Bruchhausen, Burkhard Fischer
For the development of an innovative high cycle fatigue (HCF) test rig enabling the characterization of superalloys with regard to hydrogen embrittlement during HCF loading in a regime which is normally difficult to access. The patent application for this test rig has now been published.
Open Category: Theo Timke
For his contribution and tireless efforts to develop a safety system for the Institute. His efforts have played a significant role in the OSHAS 18001 Certification of IET.
