VPP Neckar-Alb

Project full name:
Demonstration project Virtual power Plant Neckar-Alb
The VPP Neckar-Alb consists of DERs, that are installed at the campus of the Reutlingen University and centrally operated by a control system. This system is extended by a forecast application and is also linked to the European energy exchange. Participants from around the region Neckar-Alb in south-west Germany are invited to join the project by attaching their DERs or companys to the VPP Neckar-Alb. The project's planning phase started at the end of 2015.

COTEVOS

Project full name:
Concepts, Capacities and Methods for Testing EV systems and their interOperability within the Smartgrids
COTEVOS designed and established the optimal laboratory infrastructure and capabilities for the interoperability assessment of devices, tools and services belonging to the electric vehicle (EV) and the smart grid systems.

WiseGRID

Project full name:
Wide scale demonstration of Integrated Solutions for European SmartGrid
WiseGRID will provide a set of solutions and technologies to increase the smartness, stability and security of an open, consumer-centric European energy grid.

ERIGrid

Project full name:
European Research Infrastructure supporting Smart Grid Systems Technology Development, Validation and Roll Out
Renewable energy sources are key enablers in the endeavor to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and cope with the anthropogenic global warming. The intermittent behaviour of renewable energy sources and their limited storage capabilities present new challenges to power system operators in the maintenance of power quality and reliability. However, the increased availability of advanced automation and communication technologies has also provided new intelligent solutions to meet these challenges.

BiPol+

Project full name:
Berührungsloses, Induktives und Positionstolerantes Laden
Integration of Fast Charging Infrastructure of Electric Vehicles into Low Voltage Grids to investigate the ancillary services potential and the repercussions and harmonic distortions by means of the charging infrastructure itself

Decentralized Grid-Intelligence

Project full name:
Decentralized Grid-Intelligence
A decentralized intelligence for medium voltage grids is implemented in Niederstetten, accountable for a better medium voltage management and optimized fault detection and restrictions management

Flexible Heat Flow

Project full name:
Flexible Heat Flow
Integrated implementation of demand side management of 150 power to heat storage systems (electric heating systems) in a real distribution grid by means of the BDEW "grid traffic light concept", which indicates the real-time and future violation of grid limits

grid-control

Project full name:
Advanced Decentral Grid Control
New technical system solutions are developed with regards to techniccal as well as economical based orchestration of decentralized energy systems, resulting in an overall-system concept for future electrical distribution grids, allowing to create synergy effects by applying the smart meter infrastructure cross-functionally (Smart Grid - Smart Market - Smart Home)

RealValue

Project full name:
Realising Value from Electricity Markets with Local Smart Electric Thermal Storage Technology
RealValue aims to demonstrate how local small-scale energy storage, optimised with advanced ICT, could bring benefits to market participants throughout the EU. Smart Electric Thermal Storage (SETS) will be deployed in physical demonstration trials in 1250 homes in Germany, Latvia and Ireland but the analysis will also consider other storage technologies and energy vectors, including integration with district heating and micro-generation. SETS is a direct replacement for existing electric thermal storage heaters and water tanks with a combined load of 55GW across the EU.

TRANSFORM

Project full name:
Transformation Agenda for Low Carbon Cities
TRANSFORM provides insight into smart city processes and methodologies for cities how to arrive at smart energy plans and executable projects, based upon stakeholder co-creation. This done by developing methods, sharing best practices, sharing visions, sharing solutions and breaking down barriers that block initiatives in order to reach these extensive and ambitious targets. TRANSFORM goes further than only ambitions and aims, and will define actions to be taken in the TRANSFORM cities and other cities within Europe to reach climate goals.
