Brief description and/or other information regarding the project:
The VPP Neckar-Alb consists of DERs, that are installed at the campus of the Reutlingen University and centrally operated by a control system. This system is extended by a forecast application and is also linked to the European energy exchange. Participants from around the region Neckar-Alb in south-west Germany are invited to join the project by attaching their DERs or companys to the VPP Neckar-Alb.
The project's planning phase started at the end of 2015. Middle of 2017, the construction of the demonstration plant will start firstly with the installation of the control system, of DERs and with the connection to the facilities of the university. Until the end of 2018, the VPP will expand by connecting minimum 20 participants.
The Reutlingen Energy Center REZ of the university will deploy the VPP as a teaching and research facility and, in addition to the master's degree program "Distributed Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency", will educate specialists in the field of modern energy supply.
