PRICE

Start and end dates:
January, 2011 to December, 2014
Prevailing Stage of Development:
Demonstration
Brief description and/or other information regarding the project:
Joint Demonstration Project to be performed by Iberdrola and Gas Natural Fenosa, consisting in the deployment of a global intelligent electrical network solution for their power distribution systems in a shared geographic area, the Henares region, in order to get the experience and knowledge in deploying and managing intelligent transmission and distribution power systems. The project not only involves the aim to improve electrical network maintenance and operation, integrate renewable energies and distributed generation and the introduction of Electrical Vehicles, but also allows offering new services to its customers. The goals of PRICE can be summarized into the following ones:- Provide to current distribution infrastructure with necessary elements to turn into intelligent networks in order to be monitored and operated remotely. - Install smart meters to make remote management of consumption and low voltage generation, in order to reduce losses and improve the imbalances in the network.- In regard to promote the integration of distributed generation in the system, it is planned to set up control centres to monitor (and in future to control) the energy produced by the DG.- Install the necessary elements in two medium-voltage lines which will control the power flow and voltage.- Sustainable mobility study and demonstration (based in electric charging points)- Demand management demonstration, including control devices for appliances in residential apartments a central demand response centre and demand response programs.
