NOBEL GRID

Start and end dates:
January, 2015 to June, 2018
Prevailing Stage of Development:
Research & Development
Brief description and/or other information regarding the project:
Nobel Grid objective is to provide new tools and ICT services for all actors of the electricity distribution grid and retail market, providing more secure and stable Smart Grids and cleaner and affordable energy. Nobel Grid began on January 1, 2015, and is planned to have a duration of 42 months. Under the coordination of ETRA, the project involves other 20 organizations from 11 countries of the European union, complementary each other, including experts in energy, ICT and end users. During the project, it will be designed, developed and demonstrated new tools that facilitate the management of distribution networks and at the same time generating profits to all stakeholders in the energy market. Specifically, the project will develop: • A tool for optimization and maintenance of the Smart Grid for DSOs. • A mobile app so that end users (prosumers) will know their consumption and production in real time, as well as increase its commitment to the environment. • A solution for energy retailers and aggregators that will foster the active participation of the prosumer and provide Smart Grids more stable and cleaner energy. In addition, the project will design and develop an innovative, secure and low cost Smart meter that will allow, not only access to information by all users of the smart grid, but also the active participation of all the actors in the energy market. All these results will be validated and evaluated during the project in real conditions in five electric cooperatives, in five European countries and involving all actors of the distribution network, as DSOs, prosumers, aggregators and retailers. In addition, to make possible an efficient implementation of the solutions developed, the project will work on the analysis of new business models, as well as improvements in legislation and regulation in the field of the Smart Grids.
