Brief description and/or other information regarding the project:
FerroSmartGrid (Smart Grid Development for Energy Management in the Railway Sector) involves the development of an experimental demonstrator for the first Smart Grid for rail. It allows optimum management of the system's electric network, as well as the interoperability of different urban and interurban transport systems, integrated electrically through intelligent nodes, and interacting with their users in the environment of rail stations. FerroSmartGrid is based on IT, power, storage, and electromobility systems for efficient management of the rail network's energy consumption, moving the concept of intelligent networks to the rail sector. This ushers in a new paradigm for the rail network, optimizing it and actively integrating the consumer.
