  • Community of stakeholders

EIRIE is aimed at setting up a European forum composed of Research & Innovation stakeholders active in the fields of smart grids, storage and local energy systems, including policy makers, standardisation bodies and experts in both research and academia, representing the EU energy system.

  • Sustainability and collaboration

Developing an effective and efficient collaborative platform is crucial, but so is assuring its sustainability. To do so, important European stakeholders, initiatives and platforms have joined the process to assure the EIRIE platform's sustainability.

  • Collaborative multi-dimensional platform

Through the EIRIE platform, we aim at reaching the R&I community from all European Member states, by bringing together data, information, knowledge and lessons learned from successful projects and partnerships, being national, regional or European.

REPOSITORY SEARCH TOOL

EIRIE offers a strong and versatile search engine (classic filtering and list-based results will be featured ). Through this page you can search and find fine-grained and targeted information available in the EIRIE platform and referring to project-related results, like project deliverables, reports, best practices, use cases, regulations, standards and grid codes.

PANTERA regional virtual workshop MedPower 2020 outcomes

Read more about PANTERA regional virtual workshop MedPower 2020 outcomes
Summary
On 10 & 11 November 2020, the PANTERA project held its regional workshop “Energy transition through optimal use of the rich Renewable Energy Resources of the Mediterranean basin”, which took place virtually during MedPower 2020 conference.
Body

PANTERA project’s mission and goals were presented, along with the new identity of the platform, which will be called EIRIE, and the value it will bring to the research and innovation energy community via PANTERA regional desks, working teams, and the platform.

The workshop tackled different aspects the energy transition needs to be addressed in order to contribute efficiently to the Energy targets of EU. The status of the smart grids regional evolution was also presented, while use cases covering technologies -such as Energy storage, Demand Response, Renewables and Electric mobility- were highlighted.

Three roundtables took place during the two days of the workshop, allowing stakeholders and participants to actively share their opinion via electronic voting tool. This system was highly efficient as it made it possible to have intensive talks on crucial subjects such as identifying areas of concern of the R&I community in the energy systems field in Europe, which was at the centre of roundtable 1.

The second roundtable focused on the research questions that arise from the priorities set within NECPs.

The third and last roundtable enabled regional stakeholders to share and discuss about their expectations from PANTERA on how to facilitate the collaboration with R&I stakeholders.

Furthermore, the R&D needs related to EU energy policy and trends for 2030 and 2050, along with the role of the R&I community towards a green recovery were discussed.

EIRIE platform's vision is supporting the Energy Research & Innovation community in Europe| by making available tools and features that will provide the needed knowledge, information, and data.

Collaboration between Horizon 2020 projects: PANTERA and ASSET

Read more about Collaboration between Horizon 2020 projects: PANTERA and ASSET
Summary
PANTERA’s main objective is to contribute to the energy transition and especially the EU energy targets, by establishing a single point of reference for the R&I community active in the fields of smart grids, storage and local energy systems, via the EIRIE
Body

To realise this ambitious objective, we believe collaborating with other initiatives and projects that are moving towards the same objectives, is essential. We are delighted to announce the start of a fruitful and successful collaboration with H2020 ASSET project, a holistic and scalable solution for research, innovation, and education in energy transition (see video).

The project aims to create a community and to provide the tools to create and share the knowledge and skills needed to efficiently tackle the energy transition processes.

ASSET´s goal is twofold:

1) To create a sustainable and scalable ecosystem (community) including all energy transition and education stakeholders:

  • Companies from the energy sector
  • Universities and training actors
  • Authorities and policy makers
  • Society

2) To deliver the framework and means for the continuous collaborative definition of the knowledge-competencies-skills required for the energy transition and for continuous resource pooling to efficiently educate/train large numbers of people in diverse and interdisciplinary topics and carry out research and innovation activities.

European Interconnection for Research Innovation & Entrepreneurship (EIRIE)

Read more about European Interconnection for Research Innovation & Entrepreneurship (EIRIE)
Summary
Meet EIRIE, the new PANTERA platform that stands for European Interconnection for Research Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
Body

Within the PANTERA project, we have been hard at work on developing an interactive multi-functional platform that will act as THE meeting point of all actors active in the field of energy research & Innovation from all Europe.

We have been in close collaboration with the European Commission and important stakeholders such as JRC (EC Joint Research Centre), ETIP SNET (ETIP Smart Networks for Energy Transition) and ERA-Net SES (ERA-Net Smart Energy Systems) to make EIRIE a true success.

Thanks to the establishment of our Regional Desks (more information), EIRIE will be active at both regional and EU level at the same time and will foster critical data, information and rich content that can be utilised by all actors of the smart grid R&I regime be it researchers, industrial parties, academia or SMEs.
