The Basque Government through The Basque Energy Agency (EVE) and Iberdrola Distribución Eléctrica, on the basis of their common interest in the matter, are leading the BIDELEK SAREAK project.This project aims to deploy Smart Grids in both cities and towns in order to increase the security and efficiency of the electric energy supply. The main challenge of this smart power grid is to develop a more flexible, efficient and secure system, causing a qualitative improvement of the electric distribution grid and customer services.The aim of BIDELEK SAREAK is to become an international reference Smart Grid project worldwide. Many Basque companies have developed the capability to supply the required technology. This initiative turns out to be an opportunity for them to reinforce their leadership in the field of technology and for the Basque Country to become a reference for Smart Grids solutions.
