COTEVOS designed and established the optimal laboratory infrastructure and capabilities for the interoperability assessment of devices, tools and services belonging to the electric vehicle (EV) and the smart grid systems.

Renewable energy sources are key enablers in the endeavor to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and cope with the anthropogenic global warming. The intermittent behaviour of renewable energy sources and their limited storage capabilities present new challenges to power system operators in the maintenance of power quality and reliability. However, the increased availability of advanced automation and communication technologies has also provided new intelligent solutions to meet these challenges.

This project proposes research in cyber-security of the power system, aiming at model-based power system intrusion detection and probability of an event causing the ICT system security to be compromised. The alarms from both ICT and power system components need to be collected and fused into possible fault or intrusion suggestions. The system operator uses these suggestions to estimate the system state and assess if the system security and stability was compromised. This project considers the distribution power grid. TRANSFORM provides insight into smart city processes and methodologies for cities how to arrive at smart energy plans and executable projects, based upon stakeholder co-creation. This done by developing methods, sharing best practices, sharing visions, sharing solutions and breaking down barriers that block initiatives in order to reach these extensive and ambitious targets. TRANSFORM goes further than only ambitions and aims, and will define actions to be taken in the TRANSFORM cities and other cities within Europe to reach climate goals.

The objective of this demonstration project is to design, integrate and pilot an innovative solution for social housing, using mature and interactive ICT, to enable sustained reductions of energy and water consumption of at least 15% below the current practice, without compromising living conditions, across 300 social dwellings in 10 European countries, with latitudes ranging from 56oN to 38oN.

REserviceS has provided technical and economic guidelines and recommendations for the design of a European market for ancillary services, as well as for future network codes within the Third Liberalisation Package. Services like controlling the frequency and voltage, as well as reserves, provided to transmission and distribution system operators are an essential part of ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electricity grids.
