SmartEST Laboratory

Start and end dates:
January, 2012 to December, 2013
Prevailing Stage of Development:
Research & Development
Brief description and/or other information regarding the project:
In the coming years more and more distributed generation such as solar and wind power plants renewable energy fed into the grid. With the help of smart grids, the fluctuating current flows can be controlled efficiently by intelligent power management. With his new laboratory Smartest AIT now offers for these networks of the future, a unique research and testing infrastructure. In the laboratory, a variety of modern technical facilities are combined with the power to test new components and control concepts and their interactions under real conditions and to optimize. Of particular interest is the experimental development environment for network operators and manufacturers of components of distributed energy systems. Excellent environment for R&D, testing and verification in the field oflarge scale DG/RES grid integration and Smart Grids applications§ New analysis methods include real-time (RT) Power-Hardware-in-theloop(P-HIL) combining close-to-reality hardware system tests with theadvantages of numerical simulation
