Arturs Purvins has over 5 years experience in techno-economic analysis of electricity systems and in application development for energy management systems for Smart Grids. Since mid-2015 he is with the JRC Institute for Energy and Transport working as a researcher for Energy Security, Systems and Market Unit.
He started his research career in Riga Technical University where he obtained a PhD degree in Engineering Sciences in 2008. From 2009 to 2012 he was a grantholder at the JRC Institute for Energy and Transport, where he was involved in electricity system modelling activities. From 2013 to 2015 he worked with the European Distributed Energy Resources Laboratories (DERlab) and developed automation and management applications in distribution grids.
