Start and end dates:
January, 2009 to December, 2010
Prevailing Stage of Development:
Demonstration
Brief description and/or other information regarding the project:
Milano Wi-Power is a project that aims to implement and test IEC 61850-based LoM protection that inherently contains a suitable communication channel and provides absolutely selective protection. The specific goal is to test and validate, both through simulations and field trials, possible communication systems able to connect the protection of line feeder outgoing from primary substations to the LoM protection of DG units along the feeder. The technologies of communication that it is intended to analyze are:- the Internet;- Wi-Fi system;- WiMAX system;- Power Line Carrier (PLC).The project aims to investigate the use of these transmission techniques in the context of both the widespread generation installed in medium voltage and in that installed in low voltage.
